Red Lobster At Home!

30 Jul

Yesterday was my anniversary and due to the fact that we have 3 babies under the age of 2, going out on the town is generally just a nice thought.  Last night was no different and so we stayed in.  But staying in was a great idea!  If you read yesterday’s post, you may have noticed that Harris Teeter had snow crab legs on sale for just $2.99lb.  Well, that sale was the framework for our anniversary dinner at home.

Menu:

  • Steamed Snow Crab Legs w/heart healthy butter
  • Sauteed Garlic Asparagus
  • Steamed Rice
  • Tea

How does that sound?  After the little ones were kissed goodnight, our living room transformed into Chez D’Amour.  All it took was a blanket, a few candles and attractively plated entrees.  Now, you can’t be too cute eating snow crab legs and sitting on the floor, but it was so nice to share dinner with my DH.  How much did this cost?  Well, here you go…

  • 2lb Snow Crab Legs $5.98
  • 1lb Asparagus $3.99
  • Rice was already in the pantry
  • Tea was already in the fridge- purchased for $0.00 during a recent double coupon shopping visit

So for about $10 we had a wonderful romantic anniversary dinner by candle light.  This dinner would have easily cost $50+ had we ventured out.  An added bonus was that after we were finished eating, we didn’t have to drive home:-)

So, be creative, save some $$ and enjoy each other!  Use what you have in the fridge or snag an awesome sale and make your favorites from a restaurant.  Go to CDKitchen.com for copy cat recipes from popular restaurant chains.

dinnerpicnicThis is a candle lit  picnic by a fireplace.  I didn’t get to take a picture of our spread.
