Military Family Freebie

1 Jun

Good Morning!  I hope that you enjoyed Memorial Day!  For many it is a time to visit family and friends, cook out, shop and enjoy a day off, but for others they took= a moment to stop and recognize all of the people that gave their lives for our country.  Personally, I hold dear the memory of my late grandfather James A. Bowman who passed away in 1981.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and a wonderful man!  I love you Papa!

Since I am writing about military, I thought I would share this timely freebie.   With the summer break quickly approaching for school children across the country, military families will hopefully take advantage of this offer.

Blue Star Museums is a partnership among Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts, and more than 700 museums in all 50 states to offer free admission to active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 31, 2010, through Labor Day, September 6, 2010.

  • If you are active duty military personnel and/or an immediate family member, all you need to do is show either a Geneva Conventions CAC Card, a DD Form 1173, or a DD Form 1173-1 at the museum admissions desk. Immediate family members under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an appropriate ID holder.

Explore as many museums as possible this summer. Find the participating museums nearest you by clicking HERE.  They have created a blog for you to share your experience.   Blue Star Museums Blog.
